New York based musical journalist Jeff Harris (voiced by the ever recognizable Jeff Goldblum) sets out to uncover the truth about Francisco Tenório Júnior, a young Brazilian samba-jazz pianist who disappeared in Buenos Aires on March 18, 1976. What follows is an intriguing journey through cultural and political history to unravel the fate and the musical influence of the young drummer. The animation requires a little getting used to but once settled in, it really adds flair and context to the story.
On 7 April a special preview accompanied by a live performance at 14:00 by MADÊ, a Rotterdam-based band dedicated to Brazilian music; Mose Franssen (vocals), Alvaro Rovira Ruiz (guitar), Jeroen van der Ley (electric bass) & Diogo Torres de Carvalho (drums). Their latest album, “Paisagem dos Pensamentos” (Landscape of Thoughts), will be released on May 2nd at the Maas Theater Rotterdam. Alongside the preview of this movie, they will perform live in the foyer an hour before the screening to celebrate Brazilian music with you, including a brief introduction with music before the movie begins.
