De Braziliaanse singer-songwriter João Bosco heeft een legendarische status in zijn thuisland en inmiddels ook op ons podium; bij eerdere optredens was het publiek volledig in de ban van zijn zang en akoestische gitaarspel. Nu is hij terug voor een uniek duo-optreden met zijn vaste bassist Guto Wirtti, waarin samba, bossanova, soul en jazz samenvloeien.
João Bosco schreef onvergetelijke songs voor Elis Regina in de jaren zeventig, een tijd waarin Braziliaanse popmuziek aan censuur onderhevig was vanwege de militaire dictatuur. Zijn ‘O Bêbado e a Equilibrista’ werd dankzij de uitvoering van Regina een nationaal protestlied. Poëzie, vrijheid en ruimte voor virtuoze improvisatie zijn belangrijke elementen in zijn songs.
