Run Into The Apocalyps (R.I.T.A.)

Run into the Apocalypse moves through theshifting territory between acoustic andelectronic sound, where live processing,samples, and digital textures intertwine withimprovisation to create a constantlytransforming sonic world. It embracesinstability and transformation, turning noiseand interference into compositional material.“Running into the apocalypse” becomes ametaphor for venturing into the unknown —an act of creative surrender where the boundaries between instruments, machines,and players dissolve in search of new timbres and new forms of listening.Long departed from the lands of a heteronormative musical cosmo and inperpetual search of an authentic voice, Rita Brancato inquires about emancipation ofdrums between jazz and electronic, with anopen ear to natural timbres.

With her new project "Run Into The Apocalypse" she aims at putting together what she has beenresearching for two years at CodartsUniversity's Master: how to expand thepossibilities of a drum set with liveelectronics.What if a drum could express harmoniccontent? What if its sharp, fast-decayed timbric palette consisted of long sounds too? What if it could trigger words, chords, or amelodic sequence? What if it could reproducepitched sounds and modulate them along ascale like a melodic instrument would do?What if it could sound like a hundred drumsare being played at the same time? To do so, she and her hybrid drums pair upwith two great horn players long establishedin the Netherlands, Andrea Leone on tenor saxand Massimiliano Dosoli on bass clarinet, in a collective exploration of the possibilities of processed sounds.

A trio made of drums, saxophone and bass clarinet takes up the challenge of manipulatingtheir acoustic textures with digital and analog sound processors, losing themselves along anever ending path, until they find each other again merging into one single entity of grooves, melodies and unexpected sounds.The common ground which sets the starting point of such journey is based on Rita’s original compositions, malleable outlines inspired by jazz, african, balkan and techno musical styles.

In 2026 vieren The Preacher Men het 12 jarig jubileum. Om dat te vieren brengen ze 12 singles uit die op 12 concerten gepresenteerd worden.
